Yes, you can sleep on the deck during a Komodo liveaboard. Many travellers enjoy this option because the nights inside the national park are quiet and the sky is filled with stars. The open air, gentle breeze and soft movement of the boat create a peaceful atmosphere that feels completely different from sleeping in a cabin. It is a beautiful experience for anyone who loves nature or wants to feel closer to the ocean.
Sleeping on deck is not as comfortable as having your own cabin because you are exposed to wind, early morning light and occasional nighttime moisture. Most people bring a light blanket or use one from the boat, and the crew will help you find a good spot to set up. It is also usually better on calm nights, since rougher seas can make the top deck less stable for sleeping.
Many of our guests choose to sleep outside for at least one night because of how incredible the stars are. Komodo National Park has very little light pollution, so you can often see the Milky Way stretching across the sky. Even if you end up using your cabin for most of the trip, spending one night under the stars makes the cruise feel even more special.
