The distance from Lombok International Airport (LOP) to Mount Rinjani depends on which village you are heading to, since all treks start from either Senaru or Sembalun. Both villages sit on the northern side of Lombok and are about 2 to 3 hours from the airport by car.
The drive from the airport to Senaru is roughly 85 to 90 kilometers, passing through Mataram and the northern highlands. It usually takes around 2.5 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Senaru is the gateway for the Senaru Crater Rim Trek and is also where most trekkers stay the night before starting any route.
The drive to Sembalun is slightly longer, usually between 2.5 and 3 hours, depending on the route taken. Sembalun is located on the eastern side of the mountain and is the starting point for the Summit Trek and the Summit and Lake Trek. The road climbs into highland farmland with beautiful rolling hills before reaching the village.
Transportation is included for groups of two or more, making the airport transfer easy and stress-free. Solo trekkers can join for free from Bangsal Harbor or arrange airport pickup for a small fee. No matter which village you begin in, the drive offers scenic views and a comfortable transition from the airport to the foothills of Mount Rinjani.
