Most Komodo day trips from Labuan Bajo begin around 10 am, which gives travellers enough time to enjoy breakfast, prepare their gear, and reach the meeting point without rushing. Boats usually gather guests at the harbour or offer simple hotel pickup, then depart once everyone is on board. This later start is common because day trips use fast boats and can still reach the main highlights without needing to leave at sunrise.
While a 10 am departure sounds comfortable, it also means you will be arriving at top attractions at the same time as many other day trip boats. Places like Padar and Pink Beach can become very crowded from late morning onward. This is one of the reasons many travellers prefer joining a 3 day 2 night cruise, where departures are earlier, schedules are more flexible, and crowd avoidance is much easier.
If you only have one spare day in Labuan Bajo, a day trip will still give you a taste of Komodo’s beauty. Just be aware that a later start comes with busier viewpoints and snorkel spots. A liveaboard experience remains the best way to explore the park at quieter and more relaxed times.
