There are no special or mandatory vaccinations required specifically for Komodo National Park. Most travellers only maintain their routine vaccinations such as tetanus, hepatitis A or B, or typhoid depending on their home country’s recommendations. Komodo tours mainly involve being outdoors on the boat, snorkelling at sea, and visiting islands with minimal exposure to health risks.
For Labuan Bajo and the surrounding islands, travellers generally follow the same basic recommendations as they would for Bali or Lombok. The region does not have malaria in the main tourist zones and there are no unusual diseases that require special preparation. Most visitors join cruises directly after arriving by plane and spend very little time in inland areas where additional precautions might be considered.
If you want tailored advice, a travel clinic can review your vaccination history. However, for the vast majority of travellers, no new shots are needed for Komodo. The environment is clean, the tours are well organised, and most of your time will be spent on the water or on short island walks.
