The timing depends on which part of Komodo National Park you are heading to, but most cruises take several hours to reach the main islands. Our 3 day 2 night itinerary is designed so that you board the boat on day one, enjoy snorkelling and sunset activities near the entrance of the park, then reach the core Komodo destinations on the morning of day two. This pacing keeps the journey smooth and avoids rushing guests through long stretches of open water.
From Labuan Bajo to Padar Island or Komodo Island, travel times vary between two and four hours depending on weather and sea conditions. Phinisi style boats sail steadily and comfortably, which is why travellers enjoy the scenic journey as part of the experience. The earlier departure on day two allows us to reach Padar in time for the sunrise hike before any day trip crowds arrive.
Some snorkelling stops such as Kelor Island, Manjarite, or Kalong Island are located closer to Labuan Bajo and can be reached in under an hour. These are used as warm up destinations on day one so guests can enjoy the park’s beauty immediately after boarding without needing a long crossing on the first afternoon.
