Most travellers choose the 3 day 2 night itinerary because it is the only schedule that lets you experience Komodo National Park properly without rushing. We do not offer 2 day 1 night trips because they are too short and force boats to cut out major highlights. A 2 day itinerary usually skips sunrise at Padar, limits Komodo dragon viewing to peak crowded hours, and offers only one quick snorkelling stop. It works only for travellers with extremely limited time, and even then the experience often feels rushed and incomplete.
A proper 3 day 2 night itinerary begins with an early pickup in Labuan Bajo, followed by visits to places like Kelor Island or Manjarite for warm up snorkelling. In the evening you cruise to Kalong Island to watch thousands of flying foxes cross the sunset sky. On day two, the boat departs before dawn to reach Padar Island for the iconic sunrise hike. After breakfast you sail to Komodo Island for a guided walk with rangers, followed by relaxing time at Pink Beach, Manta Point, and Taka Makasar. The timing on a 3 day trip allows you to reach these locations before the big crowds arrive from Labuan Bajo.
The final day usually includes a peaceful snorkelling stop at Kanawa Island or another calm reef before returning to Labuan Bajo around early afternoon. This slower pace gives you time to enjoy the boat, the food, the views, and the atmosphere that makes Komodo so special. You are not rushing from place to place, and you experience the park the way it is meant to be seen.
This is why our Komodo program focuses on 3 day 2 night cruises. It is the most balanced itinerary, offering everything from sunrise viewpoints and wildlife encounters to sandbars, coral gardens, and quiet nights on the water. For comfort, safety, and pure enjoyment, 3 days is the ideal amount of time to explore Komodo National Park.
