Can I do an intro dive on a Komodo tour?

Bali, Komodo Diving, Komodo Island, Komodo National Park, Komodo Tours, Labuan Bajo

Intro dives, also called discovery dives, are not recommended in Komodo National Park and we do not offer them on our cruises. Komodo is one of the most beautiful marine environments in Indonesia, but it is also known for strong currents and rapidly changing water conditions. These factors make it unsuitable for beginners who have never completed formal dive training.

Most responsible operators in Komodo only take certified divers on scuba trips. Even if you are comfortable in the water, intro diving without a license can be unsafe in this region. Certified divers learn essential skills such as buoyancy control, managing currents, and emergency procedures, all of which are especially important in Komodo.

If you are interested in learning to dive, the best option is to complete your Open Water certification before your trip. You can do this in Bali, the Gili Islands, or even back home prior to arriving in Indonesia. After certification, you will be ready to safely enjoy Komodo’s world class underwater sites on one of our cruises.
