Komodo National Park has a dry, sunny climate for most of the year, with a short rainy season that brings heavier clouds and occasional storms. From April to October, the weather is generally bright, dry, and stable. April and May mark the transition from rainy to dry season, so the landscape is still green and the sea is calmer. June, July, and August are the peak dry months with clear skies, warm temperatures, and excellent visibility for snorkelling and diving. September and October stay dry but become slightly hotter, and marine conditions remain very good.
The rainy season begins in November, although early in the month you may still have a mix of sun and light showers. December and January bring more consistent rain, rougher seas, and stronger winds, which can affect certain boat routes. These months have fewer visitors because the sea conditions are less predictable. February remains part of the rainy season, but storms are usually shorter and the weather slowly starts improving toward the end of the month.
By March the rain begins to decrease, and the national park becomes greener again as the transition back into dry season begins. This month often offers calm seas and fewer crowds, making it a nice time to visit if you prefer a quieter trip. Overall, each month has its own character. The dry season from April to October is best for cruising, snorkelling, and diving, while the rainy months from December to February require a bit more flexibility and a good quality boat.
