Can I do a 1 day Rinjani hike?

A 1 day hike on Mount Rinjani is not permitted by the national park. The mountain is too large, too steep, and too dangerous to attempt in a single day, especially when considering the elevation gain and the unpredictable weather at higher altitudes. Any attempt to climb to the summit in one day would require moving far too quickly, which increases the risk of injury, exhaustion, and accidents. For this reason, the park regulations do not allow single-day summit climbs.

Some unofficial organizers may advertise 1 day hikes, but these are not sanctioned by the national park and should be avoided. These offers never include the summit, because reaching 3,726 meters and returning safely is impossible within daylight hours. At most, these illegal day trips try to reach the Senaru crater rim, but even that requires hikers to rush through long sections of steep terrain. Moving too quickly through the forest or rim area increases the chance of slips, falls, and other safety issues.

The national park requires all Rinjani treks to be done with proper timing, overnight camping, and registered guides. This system protects the environment, reduces overcrowding, and ensures that hikers move at a safe pace. Anyone who wants to see Mount Rinjani in a shorter and safer way can choose the Senaru crater rim trek, which is the easiest official route and still provides impressive views of the lake and volcanic cone. However, even this trek requires at least 2 days according to park rules.

For a safe and legal Rinjani experience, all visitors should follow the official multi-day routes. One-day hikes are not part of the permitted trekking system and should not be attempted.
