The safest and easiest way to reach Komodo Island from Bali is to fly directly to Labuan Bajo, which is the main gateway to the national park. Flights from Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport run several times a day and take about one hour. This is the option most travelers choose because it is simple, reliable, and matches the departure schedule of our cruises. Once you arrive, the harbor is only a short drive from the airport, so getting on board is very easy.
You can now fly to Labuan Bajo from Lombok as well. This is especially convenient if you are already traveling around Lombok or finishing one of our Mt. Rinjani trekking packages. Many of our guests climb Rinjani first, then fly from Lombok to Labuan Bajo the next day. Our Lombok-Indonesia.org team can arrange transport from Senaru, Sembalun, or Kuta Lombok to the airport so the connection feels smooth and stress free.
We do not recommend the long overland route from Bali through Lombok to Flores. The journey takes a very long time, involves unpredictable connections, and the roads are not always in good condition. Flying is far safer, more comfortable, and gives you more time to enjoy your Komodo experience instead of spending hours in transit.
Whether you fly from Bali or Lombok, the process is straightforward. Our team is always available to help you choose the best timing so you can arrive in Labuan Bajo relaxed and ready for your Komodo cruise.
