Is Komodo Island closing to tourists?

No, Komodo Island is not closing to tourists. Although there have been discussions in past years about limiting visitor numbers or creating special conservation zones, the island and the rest of Komodo National Park remain open. The government focuses on managing tourism responsibly rather than shutting it down. Visitors continue to hike with rangers, see dragons and enjoy the island safely.

From time to time, proposals are made to adjust park rules, increase fees or protect certain areas more strictly. These discussions sometimes create rumours that the park will close. In reality, Komodo is one of Indonesia’s most important tourism destinations, and the goal is to preserve it for future visitors, not to block access completely.

Our cruises operate throughout the year, and guests regularly visit Komodo Island as part of the standard itinerary. If any major changes were ever announced, we would update travellers immediately, but at this time the park is fully open and welcoming visitors.
