If the company cancels the trip due to bad weather or unsafe sea conditions, guests receive either a full refund or the option to reschedule to another available date. Harbour authorities sometimes close the port when waves or wind are too strong, and in these situations the operator has no choice but to cancel for safety.
If guests choose to cancel on their own, refund rules vary between companies. Many budget operators offer no refunds once a booking is confirmed, while mid range and luxury boats tend to allow partial refunds if cancellation happens far in advance. Last minute cancellations by guests usually cannot be refunded because food, fuel, and crew logistics are already prepared.
